At Wisbech Grammar School, we are committed to nurturing the unique journey of each and every student. Our dedicated Learning Support Department is at the heart of our bespoke approach, offering a compassionate and tailored array of provisions to ensure every student’s needs are met with understanding and expertise.
From individualised sessions to group learning, we provide the nurturing environment necessary for growth and discovery. Our support extends to specialised areas, with screenings for Dyslexia and connections to educational professionals providing cognitive and neurodevelopmental assessments.
Our innovative and adaptable timetabling strategy empowers students to concentrate on their core subjects, allowing for personalised interventions in English and Maths. Alongside academic support, we provide comprehensive provisions for our students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs. Our ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) works closely with students to help them develop coping strategies, improve emotional literacy and build resilience. These provisions are integrated into the school day, ensuring that students have access to the support they need, when they need it. Our collaborative approach with parents and external professionals ensures that we provide a holistic support system for our students’ well-being.
We take great pride in keeping our staff well-informed about the specific learning needs of our pupils and the most effective supporting measures. The progress of our students is a testament to our commitment, as we regularly review and encourage them to engage in the evaluation of their own learning.
