WGS Pupils Celebrate Outstanding A-Level Results

16th August 24

The WGS community is proud to announce an exceptional set of A-Level results for 2024, reflecting the perseverance, resilience, and academic excellence of this year’s cohort.

This year marks a significant milestone, as these pupils are the first to complete both their GCSEs and A-Levels without the disruptions of recent years. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and the steadfast support of the WGS family.

Headmaster Barney Rimmer expressed his admiration for the students’ efforts, stating, “This year’s results are a reflection of the dedication and perseverance our pupils have shown throughout their time at WGS. They have navigated their academic journey with resilience, and it is incredibly rewarding to see so many of them achieving their desired outcomes.

“We are especially pleased that the vast majority of our pupils have secured their first-choice university placements, the highest percentage seen at WGS for some time! Others have chosen to pursue Degree Apprenticeships, and we are confident that those entering the workforce will do so with the same commitment and integrity that they have shown during their time here.

“Their success is not only due to their own hard work but also the unwavering support they’ve received from our incredible staff and the broader WGS community. The WGS family has once again proven its dedication to nurturing the potential of each pupil.”

As these pupils prepare to embark on the next phase of their lives, whether it be further education, apprenticeships, or entering the workforce, the WGS community will continue to support them as they pursue their goals.

Reflecting on the significance of their school experience, Mr Rimmer shared, “School is not just about exam results, certificates, badges, or ties – it is these memories that you will never forget, and they are the most important things to take with you. Focus on who you are rather than what you are. The qualities that are important to be able to be successful define you rather than what your title is – being reliable, hard-working, honest, and having integrity. These are important and are the qualities that people will respond to.”
