Reception class have had a wonderful start to the school year, settling in brilliantly and embracing their new routines with enthusiasm and curiosity. From exploring their new classroom to learning through play, our youngest pupils have embarked on an exciting journey of discovery. It has been heartwarming to see them make new friends, share toys and equipment with kindness, and dive into early lessons in Phonics, Literacy, and Maths.
As part of their learning, the Reception pupils explored the topic “All About Me.” The classroom was filled with excitement as the children crafted colourful creations using glue, sand, glitter, and sequins to design their initials and names. They also enjoyed exploring themed tuff spots, where they constructed faces by selecting different features, allowing them to express their creativity while learning more about themselves and each other.
As part of the “Marvellous Me” topic, the children had a special visit with the Headmaster and Bursar, sharing interesting facts they had learned about themselves and the wider school community. The pupils proudly invited the Headmaster and Bursar back to their classroom to showcase the fantastic activities they have been enjoying. This memorable visit helped build their confidence, deepen their connections within the school, and strengthen their sense of belonging to the WGS family.
In another exciting event, the Reception children received a very special letter from the Tooth Fairy! Concerned that her friend, The Giant, wasn’t brushing his teeth properly, the Tooth Fairy had heard about Reception’s lessons on dental care. She asked our clever pupils to create a video demonstrating the best way to brush teeth. The children did a fantastic job, and we are certain The Giant will now have sparkling clean teeth thanks to their helpful advice.
It has been a truly wonderful start to the year, and we look forward to seeing the continued growth, curiosity, and joy as Reception class continues their exciting learning journey!
